Gov. Honors Service of Fallen JBER Soldier

April 6, 2012, Juneau, Alaska – Governor Sean Parnell offered his condolences to the family and friends of Army Specialist Jeffrey Lee White. Specialist White died from injuries he sustained when insurgents attacked his unit using an improvised explosive device in Khowst Province, Afghanistan. Five other soldiers were wounded in the attack.

“Specialist White made the ultimate sacrifice in service to his country and reminds us of the dangers faced by our brave men and women in uniform serving around the world,” Governor Parnell said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time.”

Specialist White joined the Army in 2009. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion (Airborne), 501st Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson.
